A man alone near me in the library: “Excuse me. If I may say, you are so beautiful.”

I know you don’t think what you’re saying is frightening, but it is. We’re alone in a secluded area. I don’t know you. You’re standing too close to me. I don’t want to be afraid of you, but this is what I’ve been conditioned to feel. Better maybe to say nothing.
